Referee News & Information

January 17, 2014 - Philadelphia, PA - Congratulations to Lauren Stalcup, one of our US Youth Soccer Region II Referees from Kansas, for winning the United States Youth Soccer National Young Female Referee of the Year Award. That is a tremendous accomplishment. Lauren was presented her award tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2014 US Youth Soccer Workshop at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia. 
 
Lauren has become a reliable referee who has worked at several State Cups and recently represented Kansas at a US Youth Soccer ODP Region II camp. She’s pursuing a Grade 7 certificate and has also began working as a referee mentor to advise and assist new referees throughout the season. In addition to refereeing, she plays soccer and basketball. Lauren also excels in the classroom while taking Honors and college-level courses.
 
 
Lauren was selected by the US Youth Soccer Board of Directors based on their strong work ethic, knowledge of the rules of the game and service as positive role models. 
 
 

December 16, 2013 - Frisco, TX - US Youth Soccer is pleased to announce the regional winners of the 2013 US Youth Soccer Male and Female Young Referee of the Year awards. The Young Referee of the Year Award honors those who have a strong work ethic, have knowledge of the rules of the game and are positive role models. 

The national Young Referee of the Year winners will be announced at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala on Friday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m., as part of the US Youth Soccer Workshop in Philadelphia, held in conjunction with the NSCAA Convention.

The Region II winners are as follows:

Young Male Referee of the Year
Bradley Barlog – Macomb, Mich.
Bradley Barlog has learned discipline, patience and gained confidence through soccer as a player and referee. He began refereeing recreation matches and recently worked in the US Youth Soccer Michigan State Cup. Bradley has continued to develop as a referee and is now a valued official at the highest youth level, as well as adult amateur games. He is willing to work with assessors and mentors to improve his officiating and passes his knowledge on to younger referees.

Young Female Referee of the Year

June 25, 2013 - Des Moines, IA - Jonathan Meersman, Region II Referee Administrator, announced the referees who were selected for the 2013 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Overland Park, Kansas. They were chosen based on their exceptional performance in the preliminary round and semifinal matches at the Midwest Regional Championships, which conclude tomorrow with the championship matches.

February 17, 2012 - Congratulations to Raechel Conine of Leslie, Michigan, and Christopher Badgett of Louisville, Kentucky, for being named US Youth Soccer Region II Young Referees of the Year. They will be presented their awards at the United States Youth Soccer (US Youth Soccer) Workshop's Awards Gala tonight in Boston.

March 1, 2011 - Congratulations to Tyler Turner of Hiawatha, IA, and Kristen O'Dell of Goshen, IN, for being selected to represent Region II as referees at the 2011 US Youth Soccer ODP Championships this coming weekend in Phoenix, AZ.

February 25, 2011 - The recipients of the 2010 US Youth Soccer Young Referee of the Year award were announced tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2011 US Youth Soccer Workshop. January 21, 2011 - Congratulations to Robert Freemon (Kansas) and Monica Orjuela (Illinois) for being named the US Youth Soccer Region II Young Referees of the Year. March 29, 2010 - The USSF Referee Department has announced the following appointments for the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships in June: the Lead Instructor will be Terry Vaughn, FIFA Referee, and the Lead Assessor will be Joe Krzyaniak, USSF Referee Inspector. Both of these individuals have worked they way up through Region II and have officiated this very tournament many times. They will be tremendous additions to the referee staff for 2010.

February 22, 2010 - Congratulations to the following Region II referees: Joshua Brooks (KY), Katja Koroleva (IA), and Connor Williams (MI) - based on performance at last years Nationals, these Region II referees are in the top 12 (three from each of the four regions) and have been invited to this years 2010 US Youth Soccer National Champi...onship Series being played in Overland Park, Kansas. Hopefully you'll still choose to come to referee at the Region II Championships in Dayton in June.

February 4, 2010 -  Congratulations to the 2009 Region II Young Referees of the Year: Robert Hayes from Kansas and Carlin Bunting from Minnesota. The Young Referee of the Year Award honors those who have a strong work ethic, knowledge of the rules of the game and are positive role models. The national Young Referee of the Year winners will be announced at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala on Friday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m., as part of the US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop in Fort Worth, Texas.

January 27, 2010 - Jonathan Meersman, Region II Referee Administrator, has announced the staff members who have agreed to assist him with the referee program at the 2010 Region II Championships in June: Rich Grady, Assessor Coordinator; Tony Crush, Mentor Coordinator; Dan Lusicic, returns as Site Coordinator; and Kelly Ross, Admin Assistant & Secondary Site Coordinator.
