Northern Classic to forge championship between four US Youth Soccer State Associations

2014 Northern Classic

Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming teams to participate

BILLINGS, Mont. (April 1, 2014) – Four US Youth Soccer State Associations are creating a one-of-a-kind championship tournament to bring together the top teams from Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming for the inaugural Northern Classic Soccer Tournament to be played July 10-13, 2014 in Billings, Montana at the Amend Park Soccer Complex.

The joint effort will feature the US Youth Soccer State Champions in the Under-13, Under-14, Under-15, Under-16 and Under-18 age groups for boys and girls. These 40 teams, featuring more than 700 players, will compete during the three-day round robin for a chance to claim the first Northern Classic Championship on Sunday, July 13.

“Montana is honored to host this first-ever, unique soccer experience for players from these four states and two regions,” said John Lovell, President of Montana Youth Soccer. “We believe the Northern Classic broadens the opportunities for teams to play quality soccer in some of the smaller market US Youth Soccer State Associations. The event will likely rotate from state-to-state, and we look forward to welcoming these teams to Montana this summer.”
